Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On Sunday, I after eating a burrito, the right side of my mouth (gums) and my throat started swelling up. I thought it would go away after a day or two but its still here. Only the ride side of my mouth is swollen and also if you touch the right lower jaw/neck it hurts. Its also hard to swallow.
As per your complain swelling after eating can occur due to some ingredient of the food product or any dip or something additional taken along can cause allergic reaction and comes under Food Allergies..
The allergy leads to inflammatory reaction causing swelling and pain..
I would suggest you to consult a physician and get evaluated for the exact cause of the swelling and pain..
In case it is due to allergy antihistamine like benadryl or allegra can be helpful..
IFor pain OTC medicine like Ibuprofen can be taken.
In case of severe swelling injectable antihistamines and oral and injectable steroids can be taken..
Avoid the food items that you have taken which caused you the problem..
Keep yourself well hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other liquids..
Hope your query is solved..
Regards..
