Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, My son hurt his right hand while playing basket ball tonight. The right top outside meaty portion of his hand above the pinky finger appears to be swollen but not black and blue. It also hurts for him to move his pinky finger but he still has good movement. Could one of the bones in that area of the hand be broken or possibly/more likely sprained?
It is very rare to have such injuries but still it would be better if you get X ray of his hand to confirm the diagnosis. Some time even such small injuries can cause fracture in fingers. If there is fracture present he may need bandage support and he will be fine in 14 days to 21 days. Meanwhile apply ice and brufen tablet will help him.
