What Causes Tenderness In The Throat And Tinnitus?

I had a head cold with slight tenderness in my throat. I was treating it as normal but suddenly my right ear became muffled, shortly there after came a ringing sensation that has not stopped for 4 days. I went to see a doctor and he prescribed me amoxicillin but that was 3 days ago and my hearing is still muffled and ringing. Is it possible that I now have chronic tinnitus?
