Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had chronic diarrhea for the last 5 years. In the last 2 months it has gotten extremely bad with additional symptoms such as abdominal pain and nausea. I had a CT scan this week and it showed thickening of the terminal ileum with fatty infiltration suggestive of crohns disease. Is it possible that this is related to something else?
Thanks for asking query on HCM. After reading your narration, it looks like - you have a terminal ileal disease with small bowel type of diarrhoea. Usual differentials are - Crohn's disease or Tuberculosis( especially if you are from south east asia), although there could be other rarer causes. You need to get colonoscopy with terminal ileoscopy along with biopsy to diagnose accurately the disease.
Take care.
