HI dr,7 months ago i almost had a testicular torsion in my right testis and i twa big and hurts. The doctor gave me antibiotics and after sometime my testis became normal. But after a month or two my right testis became so small and solid and i don't understand why. So should it be removed or is it normal or is there a cure?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of testicular torsion in right 7 months ago, it became big and hurt. But after 1 or 2 months after the attack the right testis became small and solid. The reason of this is that after a torsion, if you do not reverse the process within 6 hours the testis first goes into congestion as the venous channels get blocked first and the artery still pumps in the blood. Later the artery also may stop giving blood and there is total gangrene of the testis. This is over the weeks get into fibrosis if you do not operated within 6 hours. This is why our right testis is smaller and solid. This may be kept or removed as per the findings of the ultrasonography and the Urologist's opinion.
