What Causes The Veins In My Hand To Pop Up Frequently?
Hello, I am a 45 year old female, 140 lbs, 5 feet 8, healthy, with no real issues: recently small veins in my fingers and hands have started popping up: first I feel a tingling pain, then I see the small vein get engorged, then it pops up and the skin gets filled with blood. This is followed by a bruise which then goes away within a few days. I am concerned because this is now happening more frequently, and apparently for no reason (at all times, no trauma, no exertion, etc.). Bigger veins in my hand now have started showing similar symptoms, except they do not pop up: they bulge, get engorged, and feel like the have hardened and are slightly painful, to recede shortly after, leaving a mild discomfort and pain which then goes away after a day or two. I am concerned that this is an aneurysm or a blood clot in the make. Please advise. Mnay thanks!

In My opinion, in the given situation you seem to suffer from-TOS(Thorasic Outlet Syndrome)-Venous with ? UEDVT(upper Extremity Deep Vein Thrombosis)
Dear the course of events and its increased frequency along with popped up,engorged arm veins lately, is indicative of thrombophlebitis with Axillary vein thrombosis,from extra exertion of the upper arm from exhaustive work exposed lately.
Do's Suggested-
Dear, Get X-ray Neck and CT thorax and neck and Consult with Chest Surgeon/Vascular Surgeon.
Get USG with Doppler Study of upper limbs on affected side.
Rule out Neural compression,as to relieve tingling and painful veins in upper limb.
Physiotherapy with change in posture/
Rest to upper limb
Anti-inflammatory-like NSAIDs-ibuprofen/ Blood thinner in case of thrombotic complications/ Antibiotics to control thrombophlebitis of upper veins.
Decompressive surgery by resection of extra cervical rib / or pectoralis minor compression/ or Scaleni anticus compression in neck area, would be needed with Consults from Chest/ Vascular Surgeon.
PCDT-Percutaneous Catheter directed thrombolysis - if need be with TPA-tissue plasminogen activator-like Activase/Alteplase, would be needed to over come thrombotic complcations to avoid risks with -UEDVT-(upper Extremity Deep vein Thrombosis)
