What Causes Throat And Ear Pain?

Yes, my throat started to hurt a few days ago...nothing major. Thought it was sinus drip. Just a few minutes ago, I had an ear pain and it hurts to swallow, chew or move my jaw. When I try to swallow or chew, my throat hurts as well as my ear. I do have allergies and took a Claritin-D this morning.

Otolaryngologist/ENT Doctor 's  Response
Hi,

The brief clinical history that you provided is suggestive of an inflammation in the throat. The pain in the ear (refered pain) is often seen in such situation as they share the same nerve.
Please gargle with warm salt water thrice daily for 2-3 days. Anti-inflammatory medications for 2-3 days could be helpful to relieve the pain.

Please consult your doctor and follow his/her advice if the symptoms persist.

I find this answer helpful
