What Causes Throat Irritation After Inhaling Chlorine Fumes?

I was exposed to chlorine and inhaled it august 17th. I had a course of prednisone,and two courses of antibiotics: My symptoms are constantly clearing my throat, mucous in the back of my throat and a tightness (which) has abated some in my bronchial airways. lots of coughing also. It feels like my vocal chords are covered with mucous as sometimes I have to clear my throat to speak. Is this copd?

hi sir/mam,chlorine toxicity causes nasal and throat irritation,cough,excessive irritability,restlessness and in high amounts pulmonary edema,respiratory failure also.as your exposure is acute and of low level,the following measures are recommended:
1)just observe for any shortness of breath,chest pain on deep breathing or coughing,excessive cough with sputum,severe headache
2)if the above appear,you need to go for a chest x-ray,ECG to rule out any pulmonary edema and other lung complications.
3)for sore throat and irritation,warm water gargles is advised.also drink Luke warm water for 2-3 days.it would soothe your throat.
4)avoid excess fluids including water.
it’s better to go for consultation of a chest physician if any of the above symptoms appear.generally humidified oxygen,bronchodilators are advised.hope your doubt is cleared.other queries if any,please let me know.its my pleasure to assist you medically.thank you.wish you a happy,healthy and prosperous new year 2018.take care.bye.
