I have been experiencing terrible throat pain(not sore, but feels like pressure) had an endoscopy and they found nothing same with xray. Now 6 days later I am losing my voice. When I talk my throat hurts worse and causes terrible ear pain and headaches....any ideas what to do next or what could be going on?
The most common causes I can think of about your symptoms are as follows with explanation: - Inflammation of hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage, this happens secondary to viral infection - The referred pain can cause ear ache - Severe pain in throat with difficulty in speaking can be attributed to the inflammation of the muscles near the above mentioned structures - Headache and other symptoms are constitutional symptoms due to viral infection
I would advise you the following in such a situation. Consult your doctor or ENT surgeon again and have proper evaluation and discuss the points I have mentioned above so that you are examined by palpation of the hyoid and thyroid cartilage, tenderness will prove the point. Endoscopy and X-rays are negative in these cases. Take a proper anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties like Ibuprofen. Have warm liquids. Chew food well. Avoid cold as such pains increase on exposure to cold. Further management as suggested by your doctors.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
