What Causes Tingling Sensation And Swelling In Feet?

I am 68 years old and exercise three time a week for at least an hour all cardio in out local gym, but I ve started to notice I am getting some tingling in ankles while setting. The other day I went on a float trip fishing in a boat and stood for at least 7 to 8 hours and notice after the fishing trip my feet were swelled --the swelling went down later on that night, but it was the first time it ever happened to me. Can you tell me what caused this and will I need to take medication for this. Thanks

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Tingling sensation on the ankles and swelling of feet are two different symptoms and they may be representative of different ailments.
Tingling sensation may be first sign of diabetes mellitus.
Other features of diabetes are feeling of increased thirst, feeling of increased hunger, delayed healing of small wounds, tingling sensation etc.
Thus, a fasting and a post-prandial blood sugar needs to be estimated.
Swelling of feet may be seen during prolonged hanging of feet.
It is a normal phenomenon and it clears away after some time.
However, if the swelling is persistent or occurs frequently, you will need to consult your physician for assessment of cardiac system or the heart.
Heart related disorders often cause swelling of feet and ankles.
Thus, you may consult your physician for blood sugar levels and clinical assessment of cardiac system to rule out diabetes mellitus and heart related disorder.

Thanks and take care
