What Causes Tingling Sensation In Extremities After Being Stung By An Insect?

I was stung this evening by some type of bee/wasp. Not sure what it was. I was stung on the lower left leg and immediately had tingling all over my extremities. Now my right arm is painful and very weak to move. My breathing is normal and my left arm feels normal. Other than the site still burning stinging and hurting and my right arm weakness I feel fine. Could a bee do that?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

It is unfortunate to note that you have been stung by bee/wasp.

The reactions you are describing like having tingling over the extremities is localized allergic reaction by your body. Since breathing is normal, then it says you are out of danger. For other things what you need to do is the following:
1. What the area with water and mild antiseptic like Savlon. If you find the sting still there, remove it off completely.
2. You can apply ice pack if there is welling at the sting site.
3. Take an antihistamine such as diphenhydramine or a non-sedating one such as loratadine will help with itching.
4. Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain relief as needed.
5. If it's been more than 10 years since your last tetanus booster, get a booster within the next few days.
6. You may also apply calamine lotion at the wound site, if there is swelling.

Hope the information will help you to overcome all the symptoms.
Wish you all the best and speedy recovery.
