What Causes Tingling Sensation In Lower Abdomen During Urination?

I have a strong tingling (almost sharp) sensation in my lower abdomen when I urinate. My ovary area is hard and a little tender. I also had a urine test done at my doctors and a culture sent to the lab--came up clean for bacteria. What could this possibly be if not a UTI?

Hi dear!

Thanks for consulting the Physicians at HealthCare Magic. I have worked through your case thoroughly, and I can easily realize your health worries. Being your physician, I reassure you not to worry as things will settle down very soon.
It looks like you have pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) Its very common in this age group. It needs proper treatment regimen that is recommended by disease control center USA. Tenderness over the ovarian area also confirms the diagnosis (although some more tests including Ultrasound of the female viscerae and diagnostic laparotomy is done sometimes).
I prescribe regimen:-
Ceftriaxone 250 mg intramuscularly (IM) once as a single dose plus
Doxycycline 100 mg orally twice daily for 14 days
Metronidazole 500 mg orally twice daily for 14 days can be added if there is evidence or suspicion of vaginitis or if the patient underwent gynecologic instrumentation in the preceding 2-3 weeks You may ask your physician for prescription of these drugs.

May you get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback to help us assist you in a better way.
