What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Body While Suffering From Throat Infection?

I have recently been diagnosis with strep throat and have been taking Pen VK. Last night I started feeling mildly lightheaded, tingling all over my skin, and had a red rash on my chest. I stopped taking my Penicillin and took a Benadryl. I was feeling better but today I am still feeling woozy and had a rash come back. I had a mono test and it came back negative so my MD thinking it was an allergic reaction. How long will I have these symptoms after i stop taking the medication and when does it become concerning? I still have a headache, sore throat, full feeling in my ears, and moderate fatigue.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Please rate my answer if you are satisfied.
Your MD is probably right that it was an allergic reaction to Penicillin or any of the other medications that you took. Allergic reactions usually don't last once the cause is taken off. If they don't settle soon you must probably take an antihistamine medication (you already took one) or a steroid shot. If the rash is coming back that may indicate the allergen is still there (you may be taking some other medicine) or there is a rash associated with the streptococcus infection itself. In any case you should be started on a different class of antibiotics for strept infection and be monitored for any further skin changes. If the rash doesn't settle in a day or two or spreads quickly, you should immediately see a doctor.
