Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Mouth After An Open Heart Surgery?
I recently underwent open heart surgery (25 days ago). I was released from hospital in 5 days. Two days later I experienced strong tingling in mouth when eating and had a very red tongue. I got a pharmacist-recommended mouth rinse that turned out to be for dental care and is to be used only weekly. The rinse helps a bit but the redness and tingling flares from day to day. I am not having any trouble with healing from the surgery. I don t know what is related but am continuing to feel quite week, have the red tongue and sensitive mouth and seem to have increasing ache in both legs below the knees and in my right forearm. Any thoughts or suggestions?
It is probably not related to your previous surgery.
Hypocalcemia (low blood calcium) is a possibility.
Consult a physician and check your calcium level.
We have to rule out other possibilities also.
Most probably it will be a nonspecific symptom and will settle by itself.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
