Hello,
I understand your concern, and this is a serious condition while driving.
Tingling can occur when blood flow is blocked to certain areas due to one thing or another. The inhibition of blood flow to certain parts of the body causes the nerves lacking nutrients carried by the blood and causing a tingling complaint.
Tarsal tunnel syndrome (TTS) is also the possible cause of your complaints while driving. TTS is also known as posterior tibial
neuralgia, is a compression neuropathy and painful foot condition in which the
tibial nerve is compressed as it travels through the tarsal tunnel. This tunnel is found along the inner leg behind the medial
malleolus (bump on the inside of the ankle).
If I were your treating doctor, I would like to suggest you to perform these tests:
1. A comprehensive clinical exam
2. Complete medical history
3. Electrical testing (EMG or
nerve conduction study)
4. Imaging (X-rays, CT, or MRI scans)
Right now, I can only recommend you to go to your local
neurologist to get the examinations needed. Maybe the doctor will give anti-inflammatory medications or steroid injections into the nerves in the tarsal tunnel to relieve pressure and swelling, or suggest you to use orthosis (e.g., braces, splints, orthotic devices) that aim to reduce pressure on the foot and limit movement that could cause compression on the nerve.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nurul Falah
