What Causes Tingling Sensation On The Scalp After Taking Clindamycin HCL?
My dentist gave me Clindamycin HCL 300mg. I first felt a tingling in my scalp, and the next day, after having taken 6 tablets my skin broke out in a rash that is now, 4 days later, covering much of my body. My doctor gave a cortisone shot two days ago, but the rash is still expanding. Can you give me information on what to expect, and what can be done to stop the rash? Thank you.
You developed an allergic reaction to Clindamycin which causes rashes. This rash is a result of an allergy to a drug that needs to be taken even after the appearance of the rash. The best way to treat this rash is to try to relieve the symptoms and minimize the discomfort. Stop taking Clindamycin only if the rash is serious. If the skin rash is blistering and you are also experiencing a strong headache, have bloody diarrhea, or severe nausea with yellowing of the eyes; this is indicative of a serious reaction to Clindamycin. You should stop taking the medication immediately and contact your doctor.
You may need topical or oral steroids to control this problem. Please consult your physician. He will examine and treat you accordingly.
Take care
