What Causes Tingling Sensation On Tongue Post Extraction Of Wisdom Tooth?

I had my wisdom tooth extracted about a year ago. Ever since then the tip of my tongue is tingling and every single month for past 13 months, I get a lesion where it is tingling. It looks like the skin is peeled of the tongue. It is like that for 6 days then it heals. Then it starts up again. This has taken control my life. I wish there was something I can do. My tongue was normal until I got the tooth extracted. What can I do? Please help.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain tingling sensation of the tongue tip after wisdom tooth removal is clearly indicating that you have got nerve injury that can be more specifically fibres of lingual nerve that supplies sensations to the tongue and in case if it is after wisdom tooth removal it can be either due to traumatic injury to the nerve with injection needle or can be due close vicinity of nerve to the root tips of wisdom tooth that can get traumatized when tooth is removed..
Consult an Oral surgeon or a Neurophysician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like MRI Scan or Nerve Conduction Studies can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can start taking Vitamin B complex supplements as they help in nerve repair and regeneration..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.

Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
The tingling sensation over the tongue following extracting of the tooth can be because of the nerve injury. Nothing to be panic, you can take a course of nerve renovating drugs like vitamin B12 and B6. I hope I have answered your query Take care
