What Causes Tinnitus After Removal Of A Pituitary Macroadenoma?
I have recently had a pituitary macroadenoma removed successfully. Post-operatively I had blood stained sputum from nasal discharge for about a week. I now have tinnitus in right ear which corresponds to heart beat. Is this a complication of surgery. I figure it is probably some blood has trickled into eustachian tube and is therefore blocking it??
Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, x-ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti-anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
