Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tinnitus And Hives While On Conversyl Plus?
Hi, I am 56 year old male, and was prescribed Coversyl 4mg and was working. My Dr. Changed it to Coversyl Plus 4 months ago. I started getting Tinnitus and Dr. asked me to continue the medication while referring to an ENT. The sound test revealed nothing and concluded that it may be aging problem. A month back I started getting Hives. It was once per week but in two weeks it is on a daily basis. I was asked to take Reactine and it goes away. Can it be the Coversyl Plus. I take 1 of each coversyl and Coversyl Plus daily.
The Conversyl plus contains Perindoprilarginine salt as Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor and Indapamide as Chlorosulfamoid diuretic. The effects of tinnitus and hives are the secondary side effects of diuretic component in the tablet. I would request to discuss the side effect profile with the treating physician or report it online over the portal of the company website through which you are getting the filling of prescription. There is absolutely no concern of ENT department, though long term side effects may lead to permanent loss of hearing as well.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
