What Causes Tinnitus And Loss Of Hearing In Right Ear?

My husband suddenly lost his hearing in his right ear, he s been tested, had an MRI done and blood work - also suddenly has tinnitus, the doctor he saw said that it looks like nerve damage, is there anything that can be done so he can get the hearing to come back and get rid of the horrible noises he has in that ear?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your husband have symptoms of tinnitus and loss of hearing in right ear which isn't a condition itself but it's a symptom of an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss, ear injury, temporomandibular dysfunction or a circulatory system disorder. Stress and anxiety can also cause tinnitus and headaches. It could be due to nerve damage as well. Need not to worry. You should avoid touching or pricking ear. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to find out exact cause. Doctor may order certain tests like audiological test , rushing test, high and low pitched test. Doctor may prescribe tricyclic antidepressants , alprazolam and devices like hearing aids and masking devices .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
