Hello,
A history of migraine is a risk factor for tinnitus, people experience tinnitus during migraine episodes. Both migraine and tinnitus are neurological conditions. Migraine is triggered due to stress, anxiety, certain food, hormonal fluctuations, bright light, inadequate sleep, etc. Tinnitus can also be experienced as a complication of many conditions that cause
headaches or other neurological symptoms, such as vertigo.
You are advised to get clinically examined by an ENT to detect pathology that is causing tinnitus so that treatment can be started at the earliest. In the meantime, avoid triggers like exposure to direct sunlight, noise, pollution, strong smell, stress (emotional/physical), and take adequate sleep and water along with fluids. You can take
acetaminophen or triptans to get rid of migraine. Migraine control can cause help reduce tinnitus.
Tinnitus is treated with sound therapy, get connected to an audiologist, get
audiometry tests done. You will also be treated with medicines and
hearing aid if needed. CBT &
counselling will be given. Avoid exposure to loud noise and keep your blood pressure and blood sugar level under control.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
