Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Toe Numbness, Pins/needles All Over Body With Controlled B12/iron Deficiency Anemia?
I have vitamin B12 deficiency anemia, iron deficiency anemia, and now vitamin d3 deficiency. Both anemias are now under control, but I also have some numbness in my toe and have had 2 episodes of pins and needles sensations all over my body which has lasted for a few days each time. MRIs on my brain and cervical spine area have shown nothing, and an EMG on my legs has also shown no damage. Any ideas?

Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Ivo Ditah's Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this numbness and needles feelings that you have reported. Vitamin B12 deficiency often presents with peripheral nerve issues like you have reported. After correction, it takes some time for all to return to normal.. Because you have documented B12 deficiency, I will recommend that you carry on with the supplements and monitor this symptoms. I do believe they should give way over time and more so because there is no other anatomical pathology that suggests a different cause.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
