What Causes Tonsillitis Along With Cold And Fever?
My 12 yeAr old daughter has had swollen tonsils and cold symptoms on and off for about 2 weeks. Strep and mono negative. In the last day or so she has developed a fever and her uvula is bent to the right, touching her right tonsils. She has a terrible cough and complains of throat pain and something stuck in her throat. Any ideas?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Fever, cough and throat pain symptoms what your daughter is experiencing is asa result of upper respiratory tract infection, which has also resulted in swelling of tonsils. She needs to be treated with an appropriate course of antibiotics. Also for fever antipyretic medications needs to be administered. Along with the medications, she needs to do salt water gargling with warm water twice daily and take decongestant medications when necessary. Gradually, her symptoms should subside and should be back to normal. Depending on the response to treatment related to tonsils, she may require tonsillectomy at a later date. Hope the information provided would be helpful. Al the best.
