Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im 60 yr old female, play tennis at least 3x/wk, 5ft 8 in, 135lbs. I have my blood work done twice a year cholesterol is great all my blood work comes back fine. Three years ago a small lump was found on my thyroid, it s been biopsied and continually checked and is fine I feel a light shakiness or a quivery feeling inside my body every once in a while. It s been happening for about a year and a half What could be the cause?
Since you are quite fit and yet experience tremors, it could be due to fatigue after playing tennis, dehydration or some developing neurological deficiency. If diabetic, control your blood glucose level at all cost. Cut on intake of alcohol or addictions if any. Take adequate sleep & nutritional supplements (multivitamins - B6, B12, folic acid or mineral, vitamin & protein rich home made food). However, other medical conditions that can cause tremors are Parkinson's disease, peripheral neuropathy, essential tremor, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a neurologist and get nerve conduction tests, nerve biopsy and imaging tests done. Your treatment will depend on the severity of the pathology detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
