Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tremors In The Hands While On Sinemet?
My husband has had parkinson s disease for about 8 years and treated with generic Sinemet. He never had the shakes, but had the cognitive, voice and facial stiffness. For the last few days his hands have been shaking when he is not thinking about it. Could this be a long term side effect of the Sinemet?
Shaking or trembling hands are the main feature of Parkinson disease. This occurs because of the disease rather than because of medications. If his hands have started shaking more then I suggest you to consult the treating doctor again and for Parkinson disease, there are other better alternatives available now a days like Ropinirole. If I were your treating doctor, I would have added anticholinergic drug Trihexyphenidyl to control his tremors.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prashant Gohil
