Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I am 75 years old . I am in general good health. My right hand frequently shakes during the day usually when it is inactive at my side . It is painless. My father used to have that condition after 65. Is that benign essential tremor? That s the only area where I have shaking. Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Tremors in old age could be due to side effect of certain drugs ( like drugs used for asthma,anxiety- depression or fear Or some problem at brain level. When there is family history it is named as Essential tremor, Tremor is not a life threatening problem- still it is better to scrutinize it to exclude causes told to before. The severe tremor causing difficulty in day to day activity needs advice of a physician & get specific treatment. Thanks
