What Causes Twitching Sensation In Cheeks After Undergoing Face Lift And Cheek Implants?
Hi! Years ago (in my early 40 s), I had cheek implants put in and I loved them!About 8 years ago around age 50, I had a midline facelift, and I had a floating feeling in my face. The doctor said he was going to secure the implants but did not.I noticed they were lower in my face after the surgery but lived with it. About 3 years ago, I started having a twitch in my cheeks. What occurs is when I blink my eyes, the lower inner corners of my eyes crinkle, the cheek area moves and the right side of my mouth is pulled slightly. Can you advise me as to what is happening? I am very self conscious of this and appreciate your thoughts.
Your symptoms fit in to a category called as facial tics. The causes in most of the cases is anxiety and stress. Get control of the anxiety and this problem may get improved. Surely the study of nerves and other conditions of brain, cranial nerves and obviously in your case the facial lift procedures that involve nerves should also be considered and treated accordingly. Facial tics sometimes make social life difficult hence get treated ASAP.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
