What Causes Unusual Pain And Bruise On The Lower Back?

I have a very unusual pain on/in my lower back/ upper Crack area. It hurts to walk, sit, stand, lay, to do anything. The area it s I m is bruised mildly. It hurts to do anything. I don t know if it s a cyst, hemorrhoid, or what but it popped up a couple of days ago. It may not be a cyst or hemorrhoid because I am currently in physical therapy for a partially torn MCL and they ve had me doing a lot of work with a yoga ball and bridging with my feet on topaper of the ball to strengthen my hamstrings and I am a very big guy so when I come back down it isn t always smooth. Usually they have me do it on a padded bench that they have at the physical therapy office, but I was working it in the weight room on the hard floor during my football practice because I m not allowed contact or to run or anything really. But I would just like to know if any of you think or know what is going on or what it could be. I would be very grateful if someone could help. Also I forgot to add there is somewhat of a know on it too.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the unusual pain and bruise on the lower back with current physical sessions do indicate tissue damage to some extent over area of peri anal or coccyx region. The possibility of abrasions, fissure or even pilonidal issue has to be sorted out with the physical examination with your primary care or consultant physician at earliest.

Till that time, following measures will help you:
- Use soft cushion or pillow to sit
- Avoid any sit with hard surface
- Do not entertain long drive
- Get smooth bowel evacuations to avoid straining at stool
- Local application of ice followed by soframycetin skin cream

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
