What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post Intercourse?

hi,
I am 49 years old. Two days ago after having sex with my husband we noticed some blood from my uterus or vagina. I noticed recently that my vagina is very dry so I thought that the dryness is the cause. This morning I saw the doctor and I did urine and blood test. The results are ok. Also they took a sample of the fluid of my vagina to check for any infection but the results were not ready. I am waithing for an ultrasound appointment within the next three days. I had vaginal ultrasound in Nov which was ok. I am very concern. In 2008 I was diagnozed and threated from colon ca on my sigmoid colon. Also they removed my left overie and the left tube. In 2011, on the st scan they saw a cyst on my right overie. I 've felt as carrying a load on my right side and some stubbing when the weather was clouded. I haven't had any problem since than. My last pap test was in 2013 and it was normal. Do you think that my new ultra sound will be very different than the one in Nov? What is your recommendation, to do St scan or examination from the ginecologyst?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Bleeding episode what you have experienced could be due to mucosal injuries associated with vaginal dryness or could be due to infection in the cervix.
Since the vaginal swab has been taken, wait for its report to come to know weather there is any infection associated.
Also, get an ultrasound scan done as advised, which would give a clear picture of any lesions present.
With the investigation reports, you can then consult Gynecologist and get yourself clinically evaluated, so that it can be appropriately managed.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
