Hey there I m 21 years old and just found out I have varicocele on the right side I don t thinks its bad it rarely cause aching when I found out I immediately quit smoking but I was wondering if a couple of beers would make this any worse and if smoking could have been the cause
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. Varicoceles are enlarged varicose veins that occur in the scrotum. Actually there are no established risk factors for developing a varicocele, and the exact cause is unclear. Varicocele repair is done to improve male fertility. It can usually be done surgically on an outpatient basis using local or general anesthetic. A small incision is made in the abdomen close to where the testicles originally descended through the abdominal wall. Also a nonsurgical procedure called percutaneous embolization can be done to repair a varicocele. A small catheter is inserted through a large vein in the groin or neck and advanced to the varicocele, which is then blocked off by a balloon, coil, or medicine. Of course you have to see a specialist for the treatment. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
