I have a question about floaters and possible tear/detachment of my retina. I have never seen floaters before and then all of a sudden today I saw this line/ rope of vertical lines out of the corner of my eye. My eye kept wanting to follow them and even continued after I closed my eyes. I tried looking at my eye in the mirror and had a difficult time focusing on it as it appeared foggy and my eye wandering. I rinsed my eyes out and started to cry and eventually it slowly went away. After consulting a few family members one found my symptoms online to be very similar to a retinal tear. My concern is how I should conclude if I need to visit a doctor or not seeing as I don t have any insurance.
Sudden increase in floaters may be linked to retinal detach ment or tear. It is a probability which requires further investigation. Indirect ophthalmoscopy may be done so as to see Peri pheral part of retina. If no tear or detach ment then it can be repeated after 6month.floaters does not confirm detachment , it is only aindi cater.
