General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Vertigo can be due to different reasons. It can be due problems related to ear or brain. A consultation with ENT specialist will be helpful to rule out this. He / she may do manoeuvres to rule out this. If there is any doubt whether it is central vertigo then a CT or MRI scan of brain will be needed also. In case of ear problems the root cause should be treated. Taking anti vertigo medications by yourself is not a good idea. Long term intake of this can have side effects. So a consultation with ENT specialist is well appreciated.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
