What Causes Violent Shaking And Lightheadedness After Taking Dexamethasone?
HI THIS PAST 10 DAYS ITS BEEN HELL. THIS IS THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENS TO ME.....SHORTNESH OF BREATH, WITH DIFFICULT BREATHING ESTREME ITCHING AND ...I WAS PRESCRIBED LORATADINE AND RECEIVE A DEXAMETHASONE SHOT AND AN INHALER(SALBUTAMOL) ALSO ONE TABLET OF DEFLAZACORT30MG. WELL, MY INITIAL SYMPTOMS AND THE EXTREME ITCHING HAS GONE ALREADY BUT NOW IT EXTREMELY SHAKEING AND LIGHTHEADED AND FEEL LIKE ANXIETY OR KIND OF EXHAUSTED IM NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN HOW I FEEL....LIKE NERVOUS?? I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS MAIGHT BE CAUSED FOR THE DEXAMETHASONE OR THE ESTEROIDS????
These symptoms ca be due to salbutamol which can cause tremors specially in peripheries. And depression or neurological side effects with one shot of Dexamethasone is less likely however if shortness of breath is persistent, a fresh arterial blood gas should be done to rule out any carbon dioxide retention or hypoxia which may cause the same symptoms.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.
