What Causes Vomiting And Blood In Sputum?

Hi, I am now at 14th gestational week. I have no coughing, no fever, no problem of breathing. I vomited a lot during the 6-12 weeks, I also have stomachache because I ate much less than usual. I used Gaviscon for the stomach. But now I only vomit once or none in a day and I can eat half cup of rice with well-cooked pork 3 times a day. During the 3 recent weeks, when I wake up at night I feel a stinky smell and I spitted out. There is blood in the sputum which is dark red or brown. This happens at night or day (if I sleeps). I have tried with sleeping position of GERD patient but the blood in the sputum is still there. I went to the GP and they sent me to the ENT. The ENT doctor looked and my throat and said it was swelling and he prescribed ranitidine twice a day. He said it might be a reflux and when I work during daytime, I constantly swallow the saliva therefore no blood can be found at daytime. I have taken ranitidien for 5 days. The bloating is still and the heartburn is still during daytime. The amount of blood at night is reduced. But today, in daytime when I was sitting and working with my computer during daytime, I suddenly feel stinky, and the blood was in my sputum. I am sure that the blood does not come from my teeth, because if I spit out the saliva there is clearly nothing, but when I try to spit from behind the throat the bood is there. I also came to a gastroenterologist and he refused an endoscopy because he is afraid that miscarriage might happen with the procedure. Please help me. I am very worried and do not know what to do.

Hi,

The symptoms narrate stress induced erosive gastritis (without endoscopy).

I recommend vigilant control of hyper acidity with
- strict dietary measures
- antacid of pregnancy category A schedule FDA approved medicines
- avoid stress, anxiety
- regular sound sleep of 8 hours.

Regular consulting with your Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist is advisable.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
