What Causes Vomiting And Stiffness In The Body?

My daughter is 6, vomited multiple times last night and has a stiff body/back, but doesn t seem to have a fever or headache. She also had an appetite last night after vomiting. Our cat and dog just had roundworms, but our pediatrician will not check the kids for this. Should I be worried about my daughter if she doesn t have a fever?

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Your daughter symptoms could be related to a viral infection, gastro-enteritis.

If she continues to vomit and does not eat or drink, she may become dehydrated.
In such case it would be necessary bringing her to the ER for some IV fluids and electrolytes.

A stool bacterial analysis, coupled with some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR, blood electrolytes, etc.) would be necessary too.

Meanwhile, I recommend giving a lot of fluids and closely monitor her body temperature.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
