my husband was dx with fatty liver disease about 2 yrs ago - he had an episode last summer when he vomited blood - doctor did and EGD and said no varices and put him on protonix and carafate - he had another episode about 5 months ago but he was passing bloody stool instead of vomiting - they said at the ER that it was of unknown idiology - this evening he vomited dark brown bile with clots and won t go to the ER - he has not vomited any more and says he feels fine other than he feels like he need to belch -- what should I do - should I be concerned that this will happen again during the night - we still have no other dx other than fatty liver disease
Hello Welcome to HCM. Let the proper diagnosis be made later on, immediately you need to give him some thing cold, may be ice cream or ice cubes itself so that he does not bleed in the night. No hot or solid oral intake only cold liquid diet is advised. An injection of pantoprazole may be useful, if not, a tablet or an antacid tablet or liquid can be given. Give him plenty of oral fluid so that he is not dehydrated. Once the diagnosis is made you can post them to HCM. @Dr Rakesh Sharma. Good luck
