I am concerned a coworker who sits in next to me in the office claims he is vomiting Blood and has a rash on his torso: he claims to have been diagnosed with Viral Meningitis. He is 33 I am 54. From what I read these symptoms do not fit Viral Meningitis: How contagions is this if he does really have Viral Meningitis he made this claim 5 days ago He returned to work today and was sent Home:

Well viral meningitis shoul dnot be related to blood vomit but this is serious isses and this must be checked. The most common cause of is peptic ulcer disease.[However, any bleeding within the upper gastrointestinal tract or the ascending colon can lead to this. Diagnosis of disease after patient having melena is important. For this laboratory stool examination, upper GI endoscopy and barium X-ray helps the medical attendant to find the cause. Treatment will depend on the cause. In case of peptic ulcer, conservative line of treatment will heal the ulcer, bland diet, medications for H.pylori infection will cure it. In every case, I would not ignore it and tests are necessary. Wishing you good health. Regards
