What Causes Weakness And Stiffness In Muscles Throughout The Body?
I am experiencing muscle weakness and stiffness through out my body for last couple weeks, I feel shakey and get hot and overall sick. These symptoms come and go throughout the day and sometimes improve a little ,a while after eating. Could this be symptoms of diabetes or low blood sugar? I wake up shakey in the morning sometimes. I take blood pressure medication but it is in the 130/70 range . I am 59 years old
Hello and welcome to HCM, Muscle weakness and stiffness through out the body is not a feature of diabetes mellitus or low blood sugar. Muscle weakness and stiffness can occur due to muscle related or some nerve related disorder. I suggest you to consult a physician for clinical assessment related to muscles and nerves. Depending on the test which comes out to be positive, further specialised investigations will be required. Muscle weakness in occur in myopathies which can be infectious, degenerative etc in origin. Management can be planned after final diagnosis.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
