What Causes Weakness, Breathlessness, Discomfort Following High B.p After Anxiety Attack With Palpitation? Taking Concor 2.5mg
My BP is constantly at 120 / 80 but recently had an anxiety attack with palpitation and a surged B/P of 240 / 165. This came back to my normal readings after approxiamately 45 minutes. Doctors put me on Concor 2.5mg but this makes me feel weak, sometimes breathless and uncomfortable. I also feel very apprehensive on physical work out worrying about a more severe cardiac problem. Is this just plain mind games ? I am very stressed out with my current predicament. Appreciate all inputs, Thanks.
Hi, I went through your query. Since your BP rose only during the anxiety attack and is always normal rest of the time, you do not seem to have a cardiac problem. The drug that has been given to you is very often used for serious cardiac conditions, but it is also useful in controlling palpitation and other symptoms of anxiety. Your main problem is anxiety and worrying about your health unnecessarily is only going to aggravate it. So you should try relaxing and deep breathing exercises along with the medication. And to be certain that you do not have a problem get an ECG and a treadmill test done and have your BP checked regularly. Hope this helps.
