What Causes Weakness In The Left Arm Along With Dizziness?

I ve had several tests to find out why I ve had a couple of collapses, I get a heavy, weak left arm, and often get fuzziness in my head which coincides with the feeling I ll collapse - it s similar to dizziness but worse and feels heavier, if that makes sense. My MRI showed two white patches on either side of my brain at the lower part I think. It all started with my left eye getting strange vision problems. It would feel like it s twitching and I d get like this under water visual thing to the left of my vision area. That continued for about two or three months then I noticed that my arm would get very heavy and drop. I ve had trouble picking things up and when I have a dizzy sensation I can t make my hands work. I dropped my purse, had to lean on a wall to stop falling over and I couldn t pick up my purse. My hands wouldn t work. The doctors haven t given me any answers except they want me to see a clinical physchologist! I suffer from very high blood pressure and have vaso spastic angina which I m being treated with beta blockers and bp meds. Any ideas. They haven t looked at MS - that was suggested to me by someone.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There is the possibility of the transient ischemic episode leading to pain in your arm and slurred speech. You may need a clinical examination to confirm neurological weakness, BP and other vital parameters.

Another probability is due to compression of this nerve root there is pain radiating to your arm. You may require an MRI brain and spine.

For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started. Till the time, avoid lifting weights, you can consult a physiotherapist for help.

Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief. I will advise checking your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
