What Causes Weird Feeling In The Body While On Pacemaker?

My 87 year old Mother has had a pacemaker for the last 12 years. She has never had any issues with the pacemaker until recently. As she laid in bed, she had a very weird experience; like some sort of force lifting-shaking her off the bed. Is it possible to have this sort of issue if the pacemaker starts the heart when it stops beating?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
hi,

thank you for providing the brief history of your mother.

As you mentioned she had pacemaker almost 12 years back, the first thing to do is to get it check. Since the life of the pacemaker can be predicted to its capabilities but it is unsure at certain times as well. Also to understand that she need to do some physcial therapy which will be more focused onto the Cardiorespiratory and muscular training to balance the hemodynamics. Since there is a need of even the body to support the pacemaker. Breathing exercises along with general exercises will help her better.

I have seen cases with pacemaker and implementation of precise therapy helped them alot.
