Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I quit smoking over 2 months ago. For a few weeks now I have had some slight wheezing, not much coughing though. Seems to have started as soon a the weather got a bit warmer. Heavy perfumes and smells but he rme. I am bringing up some mucos and generally feel well. I had a test at the doctors in early February. I had to breathe into a tube and then breathe out. The doctor said my test results were normal. And EKG was normal also. What could the wheezing be from?
Hello dear user of HCM! Thank you for your question!
First of all I would like to congratulate you for quitting the smoking. Wheezing you are experiencing now is not likely related to your smoke quitting. The test for your lungs function your doctor did result normal too.
There are other reasons that may be responsible for that condition - Bronchitis, an inflammation of your airways from viral or bacterial infections. - Allergic conditions from air dust, pollen, etc.
If you have cough with a lot of sputum you may take Augmentin and Bromhexine for a week to cure the bronchitis and Ketotifen once daily to remove the allergy symptoms such as wheezing.
Take care and all the best for you! Kind regards! DR ERIOL.
