What Causes White Patch Like Ring Under Both Arms?

Hi, I have recently notice a white patch in the form of a ring under both my arms. My underarm hair is still black. I am 52 years old female who weighs 178 lbs and I am 5ft 10 ins tall. I was diagnosed as hypothyroid in 2003. I have been on Eltroxin ever since and I do my blood works twice per year. So far I do not have any symptoms. I need to know what has caused this patch and can my underarm returns to its natural color? I thought the anti-antiperspirant was causing this so I switched to Suave about six weeks ago. It worries me. Jo

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a fungal infection. It I usually caused by sweat and humidity in the underarm. I suggest to use an anti-fungal cream for local application such as Clotrimazole cream. I also suggest to use a baby powder to maintain the area dry and clean. In case if itching, you can use Cetirizine 10 mg daily.
