What Causes Yellow And White Stool After Recovering From Fever And Diarrhea?

My 15 month old son came down with a fever, vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite last week. His stools had a sulpher odor and yellow/white in color. It all lasted about 5-7 days. His stool is still a yellow/white color. Is this something to be concerned about? He may have been exposed to listeria in a re-call for hummus 2 months ago.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The brown color of stool occurs because of changes in the bile as the stool passes through the intestines.
In diarrhea because the stool is passing out so frequently, these changes do not have the time to occur so the stool is pale.

If he has not started to eat as normal and his bowel movements are still more frequent than normal then this would cause the persistent abnormal color.

You can consider monitoring it for now.

I hope this helps
