What Causes Yellowish Brown Stool With Dark Spots With History Of IBS?

I have a history of irritable bowel syndrome. The last few days I have had a yellow-brown stool with dark spots throughout. I ate grapes over the weekend which were dark colored, but have never had that effect before. Also, I had spinach and baked beans about the same time, and got hugely flatulent for the entire day following. Should I be concerned?

Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I think the combination of grapes, spinach and beans made the IBS worse.

If your symptoms resolve in the next day, don't worry. If it doesn't or you develop severe diarrhea with blood or abdominal pain, then see your doctor right away.

I recommend ;
-Take bland and easily digestible food
-have smaller and more frequent meals
-chew food well and thoroughly.
-avoid too much fiber. Identify trigger foods that worsen symptoms of IBS and avoid them.
-cook beans thoroughly to minimize flatulence effect.
-add ginger to diet
-don't eat fruit or drink milk within an hour of meal times.
- avoid too much water along with meals. Sips if required.
-don't have cold drinks or sodas along with Meals.

If you don't feel better in a day or 2,see your doctor for medication to ease symptoms.
Hope this helps. Pls let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
