Gud pm! Doc I wanted to use contraceptive pills for the first time, I am just 5mos. giving birth with my first baby. I was so confused what pills do I have to take which is good for my health most especially not to loss weight. But my baby is a bottle feeding/milk formula. Please help me Doc...Thanks
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. You can use the following methods of contraception when you're breastfeeding: 1. Barrier methods like condoms, diaphragm or cap 2. Mini-pill 3. Depo injection or implants 4. Intrauterine device (IUD) If you are not breastfeeding, you can start to use the combined pill, vaginal ring or contraceptive patch. It would be advisable for you can use the mini-pill (progestogen-only pill), as it contains a small amount of the progestogen hormone and its side effects like weight changes are potentially less.
