What Could Be A Marble Size Sore, hard And Tender Red Bump In Pubic Hair Area ?

I have a marble size sore red bump in pubic hair area. Just outside the vagina. It's very sore but no head on it. It's under the skin and if had a head on it, would think its a large zit that I could pop ..that's what it feels like. But no head so can't pop it. It's hard and very tender. Has been there for couple weeks. Tried soaking in hot water to see if would shrink or form a head or even drain something, but no. Hot water did seem to initially make feel better and may have shrunk a bit but then returned to same. Nothing is coming out of it. It's reddish, purple color, where pubic hair is. Very tender. What is it and what can I do to get rid of it? It's not inner lips but outside. Below bikini line. Cyst? Boil? Ingrown hair?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the marble size sore, hard and tender red bump in pubic hair area.

It appears form your query that you have developing ingrown hair with inflammation at the affected region. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of sweating and high bacterial proliferation in the area. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection.

For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.

If it is increasing despite the treatment then meet a dermatologist or any family physician and get a proper treatment without delay for the oral antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or cefadroxyl 500 mg two times a day for 5 days to prevent secondary infection.

Wear cotton clothes and cotton undergarments, take two times bath and stay away form hot and humid climate.

Take care.
