What Could Be The Cause Of Prolonged Low Grade Fever?

My 17 year old niece has had a low grade fever and nausea for the past 2 weeks. The fever around 99-100 will pop up in the afternoon and evening. Can a virus last this long? Also 2 of her girlfriends had mono before Christmas but she only had a sore throat at the beginning of all this.

17 years old , fever from last 2 weeks , usually evening rise of temperature ( afternoon) , this type of low grade fever may be due to these reasons , these includes.
1 Typhoid fever as this is ,most common cause so please get in blood for Widal test as well serology test for confirmation.
2 Next reason of such fever may be sore throat if untreated . so get in physical examination by an E N T specialist.
3 Tuberculosis as I have noted in many cases that prolonged fever of low grade intensity may be due to tuberculosis ,so get in Montox's test as well as blood for C B C and E SR .
However there are so many other reason of such fever as anemia , fatigue chronic illness but deal as mentioned above.
