What Could Be The Hard Poking Area Around The Area Where Mesh Implant Hernia Surgery Was Done Which Is Causing Terrible Itching?
My 89 year old mother had a mesh implant hernia surgery about 10 years ago. The area just beyond the mesh, up and to her left has become hard and itches unbearably. Her scratching has made it raw because of the severity of the itching. It is looking really bad. It started getting hard and poking out about two months ago. Do you know what this may be? She had a CT Scan on that area about two months ago which only showed scar tissue.
HI Thank for asking to HCM I really appreciate your concern for your mother this could be late sensitivity reaction of mesh, right now it can be treated with antihistamine and the best drug would be "Levocetirizne" 10 mg three times in day if this fails to response then steroid can be added and the best drug would be "Prednisolone" 20 mg three times in day for three day and then after it is to be tapered 10 mg every after third day in this way 9 days course has to be completed, and if this is too fails to respond then the last option would be to remove the mesh, take care and have nice day.
