What Could Be The Reason For Getting Urine Infections Very Often?
I AM DIABETIC AND ALSO SELF CATHETERISE EVERY OTHER DAY TO EMPTY MY BLADDER
BUT AS I GET OLDER ( I AM NOW 60 ) I AM GETTING URINE INFECTIONS EVERY 3 MONTHS OR MORE IT SEEMS WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF FINISHING THE ANTIBIOTICS IT IS BACK..CAN THIS DAMAGE MY KIDNEYS AND DO YOU THINK I SHOULD STOP THE CATHETER AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TH STOP THE INFECTIONS BUT ITS NOT
Self catheterisation itself induces infection from outside and could be a contributing factor for getting repeated episodes of UTI.
Please get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.
You can stop doing self catherization and observe for any change in episodes of UTI.
Thanks and Regards. Dr.Patil
